New state budget includes operational funding increases, significant support for USF projects

U.S. Marine Sgt. Amed Issa was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for his heroism. The USF exercise science major put himself in the line of fire to save lives when gunshots erupted inside a packed restaurant.

A group of 24 USF students will soon embark for South Carolina to experience firsthand what it’s like to work on the campaign trail. As part of the Road to the White House course, students canvass, phone bank and see how presidential campaigns are run during a critical juncture of the election cycle.

HospitaBull, the elegant dining fundraising event that supports scholarships and other programs in the University of South Florida’s School of Hospitality & Tourism Management on the Sarasota-Manatee campus, is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, at Michael’s on East, one of Sarasota’s most renowned restaurants.
USF Sarasota-Manatee's residence hall will introduce a new type of ‘living learning community.’ Members will be eligible for scholarships
Students who move into the new residence hall on the Sarasota-Manatee campus this fall will have an opportunity to live in an inaugural Living Learning Community and gain an extra edge in their studies and in their preparation for their post-college lives.

Key legislative priority would make USF a model for supporting veteran and military-connected students
USF seeks to strengthen the support and services it provides to veterans, military-connected students and first responders through a new request for funding in this year’s legislative session. The funds would lead to new or upgraded Office of Veteran Success facilities on all three USF campuses.
